CPR & AED (Defibrillator) Training
This course provides learners with skills to further their first aid training and is recommended for first aiders in the workplace environment who have access to a defibrillator.
Sudden cardiac arrest is one of the UK’s biggest killers and, following a cardiac arrest, every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces a casualty’s chance of survival by 10%.
The QA Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (QCF) qualification has been designed to provide candidates with the skills needed to administer safe, prompt and effective basic life support and use an AED safely in emergency situations.
Delegates gaining this qualification will have learned that Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation form an essential part of the chain of survival.
The topics covered are regarded by Skills for Health as being important to maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillation. They include:
- Chain of survival
- Assessing an incident
- Casualty assessment
- Managing an unresponsive casualty
