This half day course is an ideal refresher course for those working in areas where the assistance and movement of people is a prerequisite part of their role.

The course is underpinned by the safe principles of moving and handling but recognises the special skills required when assisting and moving people.

Candidates attending this course will understand that any moving and handling must be carried out correctly and recognise its importance in ensuring a safer working environment for all. They will learn about the relevant legislation as wella s the importance of risk assessments, how correct moving and handling can reduce the risk of injury, and why previously common techniques are now considered to be unsafe.

Attendees will be able to:

Understand the reasons for safe manual handling
Recognise how manual handling risk assessments contribute to improving health and safety
Understand the principles, types of equipment and testing requirements associated with manual handling safety
Apply safe manual handling principles
