About this course
This single day Train the Trainer course provides an understanding and awareness in the subject of Ligatures and ligature reduction protocol. Upon completion of the course attendees will be able to deliver Ligature Awareness and Protocol Awareness training to groups of learners in-house. The full day course is designed to give delegates the skills and confidence to reduce, assess and manage incidents of ligature as well as share this information with others.
The training explores the dangers of ligature events and the risks to staff and individuals. The course encourages attendees to assess their own environment, outlining the benefits of risk assessment with a focus on risk reduction and incident prevention, and instructs delegates how to spot potential ligature points. Delegates are then instructed in the safe and appropriate practices in the event of a person self-ligaturing, including how to appropriately manage a situation and safely use ligature cutters with an opportunity for physical demonstration, a scenario workshop, and practice.
Delegates will also be required to take on the role of the trainer and assess their colleagues performing various, ligature-based scenarios.
