First Aid for Foster Carers
An amazingly informative 2 or 4 hour hands on training session.
This course gives a basic introduction to first aid that is suitable for parents, grandparents, older siblings (16+), informal baby sitters or any one who would like to have some skills to be able to manage a first aid scenario for children.
Many parents and caregivers of children hope never to need such skills but in a rare event we would all hope to know what to do. This course gives people confidence and skills that may never be needed but are so useful to have just in case.
Despite the serious subject the course is delivered in a casual, fun, relaxed manor with lots of opportunity to get some hands on experience and vital information, information every parent should know.
the course includes the following areas-
Part 1 – 2 hours
- Treatment of an unconscious casualty
- Recovery Positions
- Resuscitation & CPR
Part 1 can be done on its own, or do the 2 parts for more vital skills and knowledge.
Part 1 and part 2 – 4 hours
additional content –
- Conditions effecting the eyes, ears or nose
- Head injuries
- Effects of extreme heat and/or cold
- Bites or stings
