Attachment theory is centred on the emotional bonds between people and suggests that our earliest attachments can leave a lasting mark on our lives. Researchers have found that attachment patterns established early in life can lead to a number of outcomes.

This introductory course outlines a basic understanding of what attachment is and how it may impact on the relationships and behaviour of children within a care setting.

Attendees will be able to:

Recognise a normal secure attachment cycle
List different causes of insecure attachment disorders
Assess the signs and symptoms of insecure attachment
Demonstrate coping strategies to manage a child with RAD
Be aware of some of the do’s and do not’s of managing RAD
