Frequently Asked Questions

What is menopause?
Menopause refers to the natural end of a woman’s menstrual cycle. It’s diagnosed after a woman hasn’t had a period for twelve months in a row, for reasons other than pregnancy or certain medications. Menopause typically occurs between the ages of 45 and 55.
Menopause can cause some temporary brain changes due to hormonal fluctuations and sleep disruptions. This might show up as forgetfulness, concentration difficulties, or “brain fog.” The good news is these are usually temporary and there are ways to manage them. Getting enough sleep, eating a balanced diet and exercising regularly can all help. In some cases, hormone therapy might be an option. Talk to your doctor if you’re experiencing any concerning brain fog during menopause.
Some common symptoms of menopause can include, but are not limited to hot flushes and night sweats, irregular periods, vaginal dryness, difficulty sleeping, mood swings, changes in sex drive, difficulty concentrating and changes in physical appearance.
