Develop an awareness of ligature. Learn about ligature risk factors, ways to help prevent it and how to use ligature cutters safely.

Our half-day Ligature Training is designed to give staff the skills and confidence to reduce, assess and manage incidents of ligature. It will answer questions such as; what is Ligature Training? Why is ligature training and the use of ligature cutters important? And demonstrate to attendees how to use ligature cutters. With ligature being the most common form of suicide method in the UK accounting for 60% of male and 42% of female suicides.

Ligature Training explores what ligatures are, and encourages staff to assess their own environment for anchor points and potential ligatures points. As well as tools for pre-written and ongoing risk assessment, staff will be instructed in safe and appropriate practices in the event of a person self-ligating. Ligature Training also teaches attendess how to appropriately manage a situation and safely use ligature cutters with opportunities for practical demonstration and practice.
