The Able Target System ® is a modular course in behaviour support covering all three levels of the management hierarchy; prevention, proactive management and troubleshooting to manage distressed, dysregulated or hazardous behaviours.

THE ABLE TARGET SYSTEM

The Able Target System®

Module 1: Positive Behaviour Support & De-escalation

Covers prevention, proactive management and responses to behaviour. It goes deeply into understanding people, positive approaches, changing mindset, preventing escalation/ reducing distress, and de-escalation.

Module 2: Personal Safety & Breakaway

Physical skills to protect staff from hazardous behaviour. They will learn about their legal rights, defence from strikes and a selection of techniques to disengage from a variety of grabs and attacks.

Module 3: Restrictive Physical Skills

Teaches staff a sequence of guiding and restraint techniques that are suitable for their setting. Also covers the law, risks of physical intervention and risk analysis.

Module 4: Advanced Restrictive Skills

This module is only taught if the risk assessment and TNA justify its inclusion. The techniques will be specific to the setting. Includes floor holds.
