Managing Safeguarding Children Overview:

This 6 hour training course provides an in-depth look at safeguarding and child protection, and those attending should have some basic understanding of safeguarding before attendance. The course includes many practical exercises designed to enable managers to support all areas of safeguarding through reflection – based on serious case reviews and learning from these. These will include dynamic case studies which change as the scenarios unfold, highlighting the need to be aware of what information you have at different stages of the decision making process.

What is covered:

The course aims to provide attending delegates with in-depth knowledge and skills to compliment and improve upon any prior safeguarding experience they may have.  Delegates attending this course can expect to improve their understanding of supervision, and will recognise the importance of up-to-date safeguarding policies and practice.  They will be better able to communicate and share information and maintain effective multi-agency relationships.  They will be able to recognise the potential barriers in safeguarding, and learn how to overcome them effectively.

Who is the course for?

This training course is ideal for social care workers, foster carers and child educators, and anyone who cares for, or looks after children on a regular basis.  Learners attending this course are expected to have some prior background or knowledge in basic child safeguarding practices.

What will you achieve?

  • Provide good practice in relation to safeguarding
  • Understand supervision and maintain effective multi-agency relationships
  • Recognise the importance and process of regularly updated policies and practice
  • Communicate and share information including referrals appropriately
  • Manage potential barriers and overcome them
  • Understand the perspectives of different stakeholders in safeguarding, differing risk thresholds, change management and roles and responsibilities
