Men can often be an undervalued resource in the Foster Care environment and a possibly neglected group that don’t always get a chance to air their issues and be heard.

In an all-male setting we explore the feelings, anxieties and difficulties related to being a male carer.

What you'll learn.

The workshop gives the men time that is solely aimed at them, where they can speak openly and confidentially about their experiences with a group that probably have or will go through similar challenges at some point.

The men in fostering course is proving a very popular session and the carers who have attended have said it was a great experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do we mean by fostering?
Fostering refers to providing a temporary safe and secure home environment for children who are unable to live with their biological families. These children are placed with approved foster parents who care for them daily.
In the UK, being a single man isn’t a barrier to fostering a child. Single men are encouraged to foster as they can provide positive male role models for children in care. The general requirements to become a foster carer include being over 21, having a spare bedroom, being in good health, having a stable income, and having the time and dedication to raise a child.
To foster a child in the UK, you must be at least 21 years old, have a spare bedroom for the child, and be a full-time UK resident with legal residency. Fostering requires a significant time commitment, financial stability, and good physical and mental health. Additionally, you need patience, understanding, and a genuine desire to support children in need.
