What is covered:

Delegates will learn how to manage high risk conflict, about safe exit strategies, and the importance of team work in managing conflict. They will also learn what they should do after an incident of conflict, debriefing and recording such incidents.

Being proactive in recognising flashpoints and risk assessment
Putting appropriate procedures in place
Identifying signs of escalation
Recognising triggers and inhibitors
Understanding how people respond to threats
The roles of communication, listening skills and empathy in de-escalation.

Who is the course for?

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 states that an employer has to protect the safety of employees, temporary and agency staff as well as those affected by their activities such as services users and visitors. Conflict management can therefore be a concern for any employer and conflict can take the form of verbal and physical abuse, intimidating behaviour and bullying, unwanted attention, and crime.
